Is any effort being made to make a Bobiverse movie?

ChatGPT:

Yes. There is a real Bobiverse screen adaptation in development, although it is still quite early and there is no announced release date or production schedule.

The important development is that Lord Miller Productions—Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's company, which is behind The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the upcoming Project Hail Mary adaptation—optioned the movie rights to the Bobiverse in 2025.

Even more significantly, Dennis E. Taylor himself confirms that Lord Miller has the movie rights. In a recent author Q&A, someone asked him directly about selling the movie rights, and he answered: “Lord Miller Productions has the movie rights.”

Where things stand

• Rights: Optioned by Lord Miller Productions.
• Likely starting point: We Are Legion (We Are Bob).
• Actual movie: Not yet in production, as far as publicly announced information indicates.
• Cast/director: None announced.
• Release date: None announced.
• Taylor's involvement: He has indicated that there is more happening than merely the initial option, but he can't discuss details because of an NDA.

And there's an interesting connection for you as a Project Hail Mary fan: the same production company is involved with both. Audible's 2026 announcement specifically describes the Bobiverse as having been optioned by Lord Miller Productions, the company behind The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Project Hail Mary.

I actually think the Bobiverse is unusually well suited to a movie adaptation, but it also has a major problem: so much of what makes the books entertaining is Bob's internal commentary, the conversations among different Bobs, and the sheer number of characters. Turning that into a conventional two-hour movie would require some clever choices.

Due to the length and complexity, this book series might be best adapted as a streaming series.
