The Wolf of Wall Street is presumably the true story of Jordan Belfort, stock broker and con man, who used money laundering, illegal stock deals and penny stocks to make a huge fortune while leaving some investors high and dry. He eventually served a three year prison sentence after cutting a deal with prosecutors.
Jordan Belfort actually appears in the final scene of the movie playing the host of a sales seminar introducing the main attraction, Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

While this is a pretty interesting story, what the movie lacks is tact. The opening sequence shows Belfort snorting cocaine off the private parts of a prostitute. There is a tone of depravity that permeates the entire film. Belfort may have been a crook, but he liked to have a good time and he lived his life that way. However, watching so much of this stuff in one movie feels like we are watching people's dirty laundry. It's overkill.
The film is rated R. For the number of swear words alone I am surprised that the film is not rated NC-17.
