Niki Lauda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1976 F1 battle between Niki Lauda and James Hunt was dramatized in the 2013 film Rush, where Lauda was portrayed by Daniel Brühl. Lauda himself made a cameo appearance at the end of the film. At this point Lauda said of Hunt's death, "When I heard he'd died age 45 of a heart attack I wasn't surprised, I was just sad." He also said that Hunt was one of his small number of friends, a smaller number of people he respected and the only man he had ever envied.

Beyond the Mind's Eye - 04 Brave New World

Beyond the Mind's Eye was a video that came out in 1992 that featured the latest in computer animation.  I had it on VHS.  It is primitive by today's standards, but there was a 2 minute sequence that really impressed me then and it is still fun to watch today.   It starts about 93 seconds into the video below.

Robin Williams - Inside The Actors Studio - FULL Video

Check out this video on YouTube:

http://youtu.be/0IDy5GlUuf8

This is long but well worth it.   Robin Williams plays to the audience and goes on tangents and is extremely funny.  It had to be a little trying for the interviewer.  This show hits its best point about 39 to 45 minutes into it when Robin Williams demonstrates improvisation.

He comes across as manic or at least ADHD, but this video gave me a better feel for who Robin Williams was than anything else I have seen.

Vid Angel service to stream movies minus swear words etc.

This ad is amusing.

I don't want to step on anybody's belief system.  If you think something is bad I understand, but I think that the words are only bad because we define them that way.  To me, the words are only bad if we use them to hurt someone else.

Donald Sutherland movie "Eye of the Needle"

I remember thinking that this was pretty interesting.  It is a little dated now maybe.  Siskel and Ebert liked it.

'For the second year in a row, "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr. tops the
Forbes annual list of highest earning actors with an estimated $75

year before.

Both Downey Jr.'s "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3" crossed the billion

The Truth About Frozen

This hour diatribe seems to miss the point of watching an entertaining movie.  All science fiction/fantasy deals with alternate physics that does not exist in the real world.  The audience is willing to suspend disbelief to watch an entertaining story.  If all stories only dealt with things that could be real (according to our current understanding) then we would have far less variety of things available to watch.

Therefor magic does not represent madness, but is sometimes a metaphor for something else, such as Elsa having to hide her identity, in the closet sort of speak, and then later "come out."

Magic also represents our desire for empowerment, i.e. to be able to do more than we are currently capable.  However, this desire to do more actually advances us as a species.   Some things that would have seemed almost magical in the world of Star Trek 50 years ago have come into existence, or may yet still come to pass.
